The Fiji Chess Federation (FCF) Executive Board has convened a General Meeting on October 23, 2016, to be held at Olympic House (FASANOC) in Suva at 9.00am.

The Meeting will coincide with a chess tournament at the same venue.
The 2016 Fijian Chess Festival kicked off on Sunday 13th August at the Radisson Blu Resort on Denarau Island with 26 participants competing in the 2nd Fiji International Open. This field included 12 overseas participants.

Candidate Master (CM) Ronald Terubea slipped past CM Calvin Prasad and CM Manoj Kumar via tie-break after the trio were locked at 4/5. Each of the leaders dropped a point each due to intensity of competition in the Rajnesh Parmeshwar Memorial Open Chess Championship. Prasad and Kumar were 2nd and 3rd overall.
Candidate Master (CM) Calvin Prasad successfully edged past a strong challenge from CM Manoj Kumar to win the National Sports Day Blitz Chess Championship for the second time in a row. Prasad scored 8.5/9 while Kumar finished at 8/9. Tianata Terubea was 3rd overall with 5.5/9.
National Champion Candidate Master (CM) Manoj Kumar stamped a dominating result of 7/7 in the Mohammad Badshah Memorial Open Chess Championship at FASANOC Olympic House. He outsmarted top seed CM Calvin Prasad in the 4-day event to end with a victory.
